Just moved in to new place. The wireless network is a WEP. My pc connected for a few moments and got internet access before losing access. Now i am still connected to the network but get a "limited access" sign. All the macs in the house work no problem. Restarting router only fixed the problem for 20 minutes. I think its a computor setting. Comcast was useless. Help me pleeaaasseeeeee!

If it is vista or windows 7 then you have to assign the network pace to a network connection (for sharing and such). Go to Control panel, network setting and set up a home location.

Control Panel\Network and Internet\HomeGroup

It can also be channel of the router in relation to the other routers in range.

Thank you for helping by the way. I will try that when I get home from work. If it helps, here is some context for the issue. The guys upstairs who have lived there for 15 years say that anytime someone with a PC tries to connect, they get online for a little bit until getting reverted to "limited access." That happens to every PC and no macs.

So Ive been reading that its just possible that my lenovo is not compatible with the WEP netowork type and that the best thing to do would be to get the network switched to a WPA2. Is that hard to do? Also, would that have any possible negative side effects?

Well, it is actually a higher security setting. It wil affect everone that uses that router, as they will have to also change to that type of token.

Wep is older...

I hope this all helps.....

Alright. Well my gut feeling it if I can connect for a short time when the router is reset before getting kicked back to limited access, then there is prob a way to fix the problem without resetting to WPA2.
