Gateway laptop will not power up

Hello,
I have the same problem as many other have had with my Gateway laptop....will not power on. I tried the "remove battery, hold 30 second etc, but unfortunately, nothing happened, just a flashing red light. Any Suggestions?????

Configuration: Windows Vista Internet Explorer 7.0

This means that your battery is dead,

I will advise you to change battery

Thanks for the info...I will try that, anything to avoid buying a new laptop.

New Battery delivered a few minutes ago....popped it into laptop...powered right up...thanks a million to you and this wonderful website!!!!!!!!
