How to connect laptop to panasonic lcd 32in

Hello,
i have a gateway model number MX6955 and a panasonic lcd 32 in tv.. i want to connect my laptop to the tv... have a Dynex s-video cable... but i cant seem to get the laptop to connect to the tv... I try every mode but nothing seems to show up.. what can i do? someone please help me!!

Configuration: Windows XP
Mozilla 1.9.0.7

When you connect the s-video cable to your laptop from your tv you should go in display properties and then choose the type of display!
