Did you try to boot into "Safe Mode"? It's possible you have a software problem with the display. But, it's more likely you have a hardware problem. If you can get into safe mode - try to change the display settings to the default and/or back-out any video card software updates.

Thanks xpcman it's a friends computer whenever she calls to tell me to come over I'll try this and let you know how things turn out.

Just in case you need to know...I looked it up and the graphic card is integrated. I hate it when they do that!
