I've been using this hard disk for months but recently my computer can't recognise the hard disk when I connect it to the computer. I tried changing the cable but it won't work. The "computer" and "computer management" stop responding when I open them (while I connect the hard disk. However they'll immediately back to normal when I eject the hard disk. I'm pretty sure it's working as it's vibrating and the light is there.
Someone please help as I have some important files inside and I need them badly.

This problem can caused due to three reasons :

1. Bad sectors in the hard drive
2. Virus in the hard drive
3. Head error in the hard rive

To figure out which problem you have you may have to do the following things:

First download hirenbootcd. Boot from the CD.
Look for Hard Disk Tools.
Then start HDAT2 4.53 to scan and repair bad sectors.

If this does not solve your problem download Hard disk partiton tools and burn to a cd. Boot the cd and delete all the partitions in the hard drive and do a full format.

If both these steps do not solve your problem you may have a head error int he hard drive. The only thing to do is to give it at a WD service centre. They can only resolve this issue.

Is it the "HDD Scan" under Hirenbootcd 15.2 ?
I can't find "HDAT2 4.53" anywhere.
