I recently reinstalled Windows 7 and all programs from a crash. (cause was a internal 3.0 USB and Card reader combo. I removed it and my conflicts ended. Now I have a drive recognition problem, On larger external drives I've had to assign a # and now when I try to use a USB memory stick it is not recognized and I can't assign a letter to them. The registry folder is ok with the #3. and I've tried a notepad inf paste and copy in the windows files...no luck. Any Recommendations?

After plugging in the device, go to device manager (In run type "devmgmt.msc") In Device manager go to "Universal serial bus controllers" It should list the storage devices that you have connected to your PC. Right click and then click "Uninstall. Remove the USB drive and restart your system.
Try connecting the device again. I think this should solve the problem.

I'm sorry but you have done so many changes that I'm somewhat lost.

How about starting all over again?
