HI, I have the same problem. Thought it was because the ide cable is a dual using both the hdd and dvd drive but have just tried installing the windows7 onto my laptop instead and get exactly the same error message and I am NOT impressed. This is my second full on day trying to get past this error message. All the drivers are ok for the dvd drives and are the latest ones. My other option is to use my hdd that uses a gigabyte cable but then I will have to go back and install xp on it that was my original os purchase then use my vista upgrade and put on the sp1 and then try again with the dvd drive using the cable alone. Not happy that I should have to do this at all. Have also tried a different cable and it made no difference. I see many posts all over the net with this issue and thought it would have been resolved with the purchased version. NOT impressed with another complicated MS os to install at all. Would appreciate any other suggestions because I really do not want to go back theu installing 2 previous os to get win7 to install

Are you guys installing 64-bit. I have the same problem when installing Windows 7 64-bit, but I haven't tried 32-bit (not going to either). I had a driver CD that came with my computer (Dell Vostro 1520), and it has drivers for 64-bit, but I just get error messages when I select the driver using the browse button.

Anyone got a solution yet?

BTW, where does the Windows 7 installation look for drivers? Are they on the installation media?

I'm trying to install Windows 7 64-Bit on a HP Workstation, XW9300 and the system does not recognize the DVD disk as a bootable disc. I can install XP 64-BIT no problem, if this is a BIOS issue how do I resolve? Anybody help!
