How to install wifi driver on dell laptop

Hello,
i have dell inspiron 1420 laptop. the wifi is not working on my laptop, though bluetooth is. i have tried to install driver from dell site. since i don't have much knowledge about it, have not been able to figure out whether it has been installed or not, though the wi fi light on my laptop doesn't get on. what should i do?

dell wireless wlan care and intel(r)proset/wireless software do show in control panel >programs &features

Dear Sir,

Try deactivating your security settings and it might work.

If still the problem persists, the source of the malfunctioning might be from the laptop.
