External hard disk cannot detect in labtop

Hello, i having the same problem where my external hard disk cannot detect in my labtop. the message show the usb device are not recognized. thats why i think the problem is on my usb cable, but when i bought new one, the same problem still occur. i also try to another labtop also cannot detect. but the the external is lighting.

Configuration: Windows XP
Opera 9.62

Hi,

the problem is in the HDD itself.

go to the official websitre of the manufacturer to see if you can get the firmware of the HDD.

if yes, download and install it in your computer and then try to connect the HDD again.
