Change os vista to xp

Hello,
i broght hp pavilion dv6500.so that is defalt with come windows vista home basic. i need now xp intall the loptop
i need som help pleause

Hi, first you need the Windows XP CD. To install windows XP on your laptop, you need to back up ALL your files. Why? because you can only install Windows XP by formatting your Hard Drive first (that its means that your files will be totally erased), and then installing Windows XP. So think about it first. dear sir,
my laptop compaq presario cq45 notebook pc
vista home basic os i need change winxp os iam allready back up to all files in dvd
so change only os how to chage os explain sir,
