G600 laptop

Hello,
My HP G6000 has just suddenly decided not to boot. All I get is the mains light and nothing else - no disk action, no screen, nothing. Anyone had similar problems. only thing i can add is if I remove the battery dont even get the mains light. All suggestions gratefully received. (before I chuck the thing out).
Local PC man wants arm and a leg just to took a quick look but offered me £20 to have it for spares.

There must be a problem with the motherboard power system! just send it to a technician to see what could have happened!
