Hello,
i recently bought a new computer and downloaded my itunes. before on my old computer i had an itunes with like 200 songs. since i got my new computer i bought 20 songs and tried to transfer them onto my ipod. Everytime i try to however, a message pops up saying that if i transfer the new songs onto my ipod all of my old songs will be deleted. what should i do?

Extra:
i also get a pop up saying that a newer version of itunes is ready for download. Should i download it or will it just make things worse? there is also a pop up that says this "Itunes has detected that it is not the default player for audio files. would you like to the default programs control panel to fix this?"

Configuration: Windows Vista Internet Explorer 7.0

--i think firsty step to do is transferring your ipod's content out to your new itunes and then sync your iPod to the itunes where all your iPod songs(including your old songs and 20 newly bought songs) are there. For the trnasferring tool,i'd like to recommend Aniosoft iBackup. It enables you to transfer iPod's music and other content to any storage device and iTunes as well. And both the backup in the storage device can be recovered and restored with no any change and no any risk. And the data in the iTunes is quite in accord with the iPod's data including its playlists, rating and etc.
There is a note that needs your attention, you have to turn off the auto sync of the iTunes before you can make this transfer.
And i think that it is not the perfect time for you to update to itunes 8.2 since many fixes in it has limited usage for jailbreaker.

Easiest solution:

1.- CopyTrans (http://www.copytrans.net/copytrans.php)
Transfer all music from iPod to iTunes, will transfer playlists, etc...

2.- Let iTunes sync your iPod

Yes, that's the way apple designed it.

If your songs are still on your iPod, do recommend to transfer them to your computer and iTunes first.
You can use this iPhone/iTouch/iPod to Computer Transfer
