| 4 Jas, on Dec 18, 2008 2:16:57 pm GMTI am computer literate to a point, but can you explain the step by step to try and fix the error. I am getting the unmountable Boot Volume error too. I really need the information that is saved in my documents and from here on out will be doing a backup on my files...but any help I can get to fix the error to retrieve these documents would be great. I do have the operating system discs too...just afraid to use them and clear my documents out. Thank you. Reply to Jas | 5 Dhavalcoholic, on Dec 19, 2008 1:37:44 pm GMTHie Jas ! :)
I tried many things 2 get rid of that Prob... all in vain !!
Do one thing.....
Use an External hard disk wich has some Operating System loaded in it..... XP , Vista... any ! :)
Boot from the new hard disk and then Copy all those important documents you want..... !!
You can then format that Drive which was giving you Problems ! :)
No need to buy new Hard disk...... you can ask your friend to give his hard disk for few moments ! :)
Hope you have some hardware knowledge as well...... well even if you dont have.... dont worry about your data ! :) Reply to Dhavalcoholic | 6 Maz, on Dec 28, 2008 4:12:13 pm GMTYour message makes no sense to me I'm afraid, I am really not pc literate.
I get the message on the blue screen when trying to turn on my laptop, I have no cd's, no external hard-drive, please help me as I have coursework on my laptop that is due in in 3 weeks and I can't get to it obviously... my laptop is my life if I loose it I'm screwed Reply to Maz | 7 Dhavalcoholic, on Dec 29, 2008 1:54:49 pm GMTHey !!
Dont b afraid !..
This procedure will take around 90 mins thats it.
If you arent computer literate, you can ask some Engineer to do it for you.
You can ask him to follow this procedure !!
This is not a major problem. Trust me ! :) Reply to Dhavalcoholic | 10 Fili, on Apr 13, 2009 5:47:31 am BSTHi can u send me the procedure for this problem Reply to Fili |

| Hello, Your problem is with your boot sectors. this virus wipes them out making your computer inaccesable
with your boot cd.
Solution
1.get your boot cd and insert it in laptop.
2.run a chkdsk /r
3. run fixboot.
4.restart and run computer.
5. run a virus scan before it can redo this.
Im sorry but if you do not have your boot cd you may want to consider buying some new parts or hire someone to do this procedure Reply to gigafide |

| 12 Galaxis, on Apr 19, 2009 7:37:10 pm BSTIf "CHKDSK /P" didn't work, neither will "CHKDSK /R"; it's a general "CHKDSK" error; I had the same problem. Also, be careful with FixBoot" - especially if you chose "NTFS" as your file system during initial set-up. "FixBoot" may create an incompatible/FAT12/FAT32 boot sector and give you "interrupt 13 extensions" errors. There's halso "FixMBR" to repair your entire master boot record, but you m ay lose data using that tool. Your problem could the boot sector, the master boot record, or your partition table.
Try products "Partition Table Doctor/Disk Recovery Wizard" from EaseUS (great UI) and "GetBackData" from Runtime. To run these products from a bootable CD, use BartPE, the Windows PE derivative ("Preinstallation Environment" - only available to OEMs and certain MS customer types). BartPE is a version ow WinPE "for the masses" - with the added capability of incorporating application plug-ins - in this case the date/partition recovery products mentioned. Each vendor's site makes reference to BartPE and how to include the CAB versions of themselves in BartPE as plug-ins. Reply to Galaxis |
