I need the make and model of your laptop so I can give you a link to download your wireless driver. Give me the model # off of the bottom and not the one by the screen, since that one is usually just the notebook series.

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/windowsxp/sp3/default.mspx

About half way down the page you will see "Download Windows XP SP3 now from Windows Update"
Click that link. It says you are using Firefox, so am I, and clicking the download link left me with a page saying I need to use Internet Explorer 5 or higher. So you might have to use Internet Explorer to download sp3.

Right click My Computer and click properties. It will tell you what service pack you have on that window that popped up.

It more than likely would matter if he used that same Key that came with that disc on his computer, and then you using it. Then it would probably be some activation issue or something.

Download it and run it. May have to "run as administrator" and you do that by right clicking the file and selecting what i typed.
