HOW DO I CONNECT A XP SATELLITE TO A MONITOR

Hello,
MY XP SATELLITE LAPTOP SCREEN BROKE AND I CONNECTED IT TO A MONITOR THERE WAS NO OTHER WAY I COULD USE IT SO I PUT IT TO SAFE MODE WITH NETWORKING BY CLICKING F8 MULTIPULE TIMES WHILE RESTARTING IT..SO MY QUESTION IS HOW CAN I USE MY LAPTOP WITH MY MONITOR WITHOUT USING SAFE MODE???? I HEARD THERE WAS A WAY TO DO IT THRU CONTROL PANEL I'VE BEEN GOOGLING IT ALL NIGHT AND STILL HAVENT FOUND THE ANSWER!!!!!!! I REALLY NEED SOME HELP ASAP BECAUSE THERES SOMETHINGS I CANT DO SUCH AS CONNECT MY SCANNER/PRINTER OR LISTEN TO MUSIC! PLEASE HELP ASAP!
