Hello,

If you find that you're not getting an IP address from the DHCP server you can follow theses steps:

1. Open command prompt as administrator (CTRL + X)
2. Type netsh winsock reset catalog and press enter
3. Type netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log and press enter
4. Restart your PC
If at first you don't succeed; call it version 1.0

Whenever this is entered, netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log, my PC is telling me that access is denied. It's my home PC and I am the admin, so why is this happening? I know it's probably something simple.

At the top of your command prompt does it say administrator?

If yes, then the message you're getting is normal. Give it a restart.

Affirmative, however, nothing changes upon restart.

In my experience Windows updates in the best possible situation do nothing with your system, nothing good or bad BUT in all other situation it cause some kind of problem, small or big, ignorable or not-ignorable SO after installing Windows I ALWAYS disable Windows Update Service.

@emily white, you will find yourself with a boat anchor eventually! People need to understand you must complete updates! With 10, it just take a little longer, but WELL WORTH IT!

You may as well not have an anti-virus either!

There are reasons for Windows updates. They have security fixes, patch fixes...

Only a fool would not update their computer.

I'm not getting any pings to any websites through CMD. I am afraid maybe something got deleted when I ran a Malware sweep earlier this morning, it has internet but nothing on the PC is connecting to it.
