Check the Python documentation on their website.

And Python is usefull for script.
SQL is usefull to check databases.

SQL can be used to do alot more than just "check" data! All of my scheduled scripts are fired by an SQL server! SQL can call and shell EXE, BAT and PS1 files, try that with a python script (and security enabled!)
