Oen Registry Editor start>run>regedit) click edit, click find, enter: c:\windows\config\csrss.exe then if it finds an entry delete it. |
Tks michael, I was searching for a solution to the very same problem and I',m feeling preety stupid for not remembering editing the regedit!! I did't tested it yet but I'm preety confident that it should solve the case.
Stay Well, haZZZta, Krist0 |
sorry but is registry editing completely safe??? |
I recently had the same problem. It seems to be that this may be the remnants of a virus that was removed. If you look in your registry for the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon There is a value named "Shell" -- This should be set to "Explorer.exe" but on my system, it was set to "Explorer.exe C:\WINDOWS\Config\csrss.exe" I changed it to be just "Explorer.exe" and that seems to have solved it.

double click in the right hand pane on the "Explorer.exe C:\WINDOWS\Config\csrss.exe" entry. Edit out everything but explorer.exe

Ryand833, you mentioned that you suspected that the change in registry value maybe due to a virus? I was wondering how you may have acquired that virus, and how do you know that you've removed it. Because I ran both NOD32 and Norton both not yielding any positive identification. I"ve noticed a few odd startup items which I've managed to remove successfully along with the registry values that you've mentioned above. Again if anyone suspects that this is a virus, please share your account of the situation. Thanks.

Thanks guys,
I also had the same prob with "Explorer.exe C:\WINDOWS\Config\csrss.exe". I think leftover from clearing trojans and viruses last night. |
Ya. Thts good buddies. Me too got "..C:\Windows\config\csrss.exe.", on startup. I edited that rude CSRSS.exe frm this SHELL-registry value..
Now my system works fine.. No more nagging screens.. |
