Vista: programs & icons disappeared

When i turned on my computer, all my icons on my desktop are gone, all the default programs under the start menu are gone, music from my media player is gone. and i the setup looks like it's windows 95 although i have vista. any help much appreciated !

Configuration: Windows Vista
Internet Explorer 7.0
