How to locate virus with task manager

Hello,

I saw a friend doing it... he searched for a virus via his task manager... is there any kind of trick???

Configuration: Windows XP
Firefox 3.0.7

The task manager will display all active program running , having a thouroughful knowledge about commputing wil allow u to determine if there is an harmful or undesired task running.Your friend'a assumption may be based upon his good knowledge about the different file extensions.maybe you could learn some good tips with him.

Hello,

It's true, you can through the task manager see activity of processus, and check if its legitimate processus or not.
But you can't do this for each kind of virus, the rootkit for example, because it hides this activity as much as possible !
