My brothers brand new iPod will not turn on ?

Hello,

My brother got an iPod touch 5th generation for his birthday , and he plugged it in to the charger and he has been charging it for over an hour , but it still won't turn on. We have tried holding down both turn off button and home button at the same time, but still it's not working. He only just got it today , and he is already having problems. Please help

Try holding down the power and home button for a bit longer. Have you tried connecting to itunes?

thanks for your response , we tried holding it longer but it still wouldn't turn on so we took it to the Apple Store and it turns out that he iPod was completely dead meaning you couldn't turn it on at all. He got a new iPod which it working fine now. Thanks anyways (:
