My pc works fine with any CRT monitor but as soon as I connect it to a LCD monitor the screen remains blank right from booting stage. The graphics connector is onboard the MoBo. What could be causing this problem?

Your output on the video card is not formatted to the size that the LCD can Use. Hook it back up with the CRT, and put the video resolution to its highest level, then connect the LCD. If still no signel, your video card cannot produce a usable single that the lCD can use.

Try that first, then we will look into other possible causes.
