How to connect my laptop to a wireless router

Hello,
I would like to connect my laptop (a compaq) to a wireless motorola router and unable to do so. However, using a cable connection, router to laptop, I am able to connect online. Feed back

Configuration: Windows XP
Internet Explorer 6.0

You should put the wep key in your wireless configuration. The Wep key is a security code in your wireless router!
