Hello,
I had to have everything re-loaded onto my computer, at a local shop. Now everything thing works except my speakers, or even headphones on the front plug. I have made sure everything is plugged in correctly, turned on, all the volumes are set at the highest level possible. All my drivers (SB Live) say they are fine and working. Please help me.

Configuration: Windows XP
Internet Explorer 7.0

Ok, i had the same exact problem, except that i have windows vista. I hope that this helps you out because i know it can be a little annoying. First, go to your control panel, then you go to hardware and sound. In the hardware and sound, you will see this thing that says sound. Click sound, and a little screen will pop-up, double click speakers, then another little screen will pop-up. On the first tab, it'll say controller information, then whatever it is, next to it (on the right side) there will be a button that says properties. Click on that, and another screen will pop up, click on the little tab that says driver, and you will see all these options, click on update driver, and maybe it'll work. Hope it works with XP, i kinda doubt that it's the same programs, but it's something.

I found that I have a win32tool, or something like that virus that is keeping my speakers from working, I have tried spybot and my own anti virus software to try and get rid of it, but I can't get it off. Any suggestions?

If you haven't already fixed it, I ran into the same problem when circuit city "repaired" my old desktop, the problem is your audio BUS driver is missing, I recommend downloading Realtek HD audio driver, if I remember the name correctly, heres a link I just googled, should work http://www.download3k.com/...

Your computer will say theres no problem with the driver because they aren't messed up at all, they're simply not there hope this helps :)

After doing all the great advice Chris gave, I had the same problem, then I checked my manual volme control in the bottom right hand of my computer and it had turned back to 0, I just turned it back up and problem was solved. It was 100% before I fixed the problem.........Again, thanks Chris

Uhh well. im 13.. so im pretty crappy at fixing computers but my pop fixed it all and now when i try to put music on it doesnt work. I checked the control panel went into device manager go to sound and i clicked update it but it says its recently updated and should work :S? and when i try to play a song the volume sound goes up and down to show it is working it just doesnt come out, and i dont know what to do.. ive asked him and he said they should work, i kept denying it but he said no. So if anyone would know please help. Oh and if your wondering i dont really know what the keys f10 f11 and f12 mean because they all have volume signs on it. f11 has a down arrow and low volume. f10 has high volume / a speaker sign and f12 has an up arrow and high volume. Im just so confused.. so if anyone can help (: it would be great! because i like watching movies when im meant to be asleep but im not >:)
