Sony vaio reading cds as blank when it's not

Hello,

i need help please! i'm trying to install a software on my laptop but the cd drive does not recognize the cd. it says blank cd. i've tried reinstalling the cd drive and removing the upper filters key. nothing worked. it works with dvds... any help would be greatly appreciated. i have a sony vaio cr320e, with windows 7
