Hi please help I can not retrieve files or photos from my WD passport. I had dropped it and tried to insert drive and see light on the passport itself but can not be detected.
Appreciate your help.
Thanks,
Winnie

If it doesn't work then it's BROKEN. There are two parts to an external drive.
1. the USB/hard drive interface
2. the hard drive itseft

In your case I suspect the hard drive itself is broken.

thnks xpcman but when I checked there is still power and its says that it is working properly except cant be detected..if it is broken that means that there is no chance to repair it?

A commercial data recovery service can often recover data from broken drives. This service starts at around $1,000 and goes up from there.

You should check to see if the drive works on another computer. But, I suspect the drive r/w heads were damaged by the impact of the fall.

OMG! the services too much, yes I did try to check to another computer and still doesn't work, now this means I cant retrieve my files unless I'll gamble bringing it to the services. thnks so much for your time and your help is very much appreciated. Cheers1
