Hey - I have the same problem. My touch screen on the tx2000 is just not working any more, no response. It doesn't seem to be the pen, as I borrowed a pen which works on a friends tx2000 - and it doesn't work either. I haven't done any major upgrades, besides the normal Windows Updates.

I did, however, recently uninstall MS Works, as I thought that was just a waste of space, given that I have MS Office. But that could not be the reason, could it ?

It is a recent problem - I used the tablet feature as late as 2-3 weeks ago. And I do not believe it is a hardware problem, as I haven't dropped the laptop or anything.

Can anyone out there help me / us ?

Simon

Simon, I just had a notebook touchpad "problem" - the cursor 'arrow' was dead center - but would not 'move'. So, I tried several 'complicated' efforts to 'repair' the 'problem', all of which were made difficult by the fact that, duh, although I could get online with the 'windows' key, and could get to certain topics by using the tab and the < or > key, I could not use the cursor to select exactly what I wanted. Likewise, I could get to the control panel, and the mouse, but could not select the tab on the mouse file that I thought might give me an answer to why the touchpad was not functioning. Then, I checked with PCGuide dot com. I entered 'touchpad not functioning', where I found that what had happened was, the bar-type switch that's on the notebook keyboard face, just above the touchpad, had gotten 'clicked' to the 'off' position. Because I use my notebook in a faily bright area, the 'blue light' that indicates touchpad function was not noticed as being 'dark'. I never even realised that the 'bar' style button that's between the touchpad and the spacebar HAD any function!! So, silly as it might seem - give a look at your pc, and see if there's a similar button! Good luck!!

Ok first time replying so bear with me if i make some mistakes...
This just happened to my sister's hp pavilion tx 2000. Since i heard it was an update from windows update causing trouble i decide to do a system restore to a previous date without the updates. After a couple of tries, it worked and the touch screen now works, the date used for the system restore was May 24, so try doing a system restore around this date and it might work again.

Hey, i have a similar problem with my pavilion tx2000, my touch screen isn't working neither is my fingerprint reader nor my webcam. I think it is most probably a hardware problem because i get a message that says no camera found when i try to use the webcam and one that says no tablet device found when i try to access the tablet properties. i have dismantled and re-assembled the PC several times but the problem persists. i'm getting frustrated. Any technical support would be greatly appreciated

If you're using Windows 7, you might try using the programs that came with the computer for the webcam and fingerprint reader. I backed up my SWSETUP folder (C:\SWSETUP\) before going to Windows 7 and found the install files there. I think they are also on HP's website. There is a search box where you put in the computer's model number and they have a list of software/drivers for it. I think I got the fingerprint reader working by installing the DigitalPersona software and the webcam by installing Cyberlink Youcam software. These were in my SWSETUP folder, but HP's site might have them, too. I don't remember having to do anything for the touchscreen, though... Hope this helps!

David,
Did you solve your TX2000 problem?
I may have a similar issue. On a HP TX2000 I bought on eBay, the webcam and the Wacom digitizer / touchscreen do not work and do not show up in Device Manager, not even as unknown devices. This was true when I first got the TX2000 with Vista and true now with Win 7 .
I've tried the Acer-Chicony driver for the webcam - no effect, still not in Device Manager.
I've tried uninstalling all the nVidia drivers for the Wacom - no effect, still not in Device Manager. I didn't yet try earlier nVidia drivers.
I tried Safe Mode reinstalls - no effect for either web cam or Wacom
Any more luck since your post?
thanks
Chris

I there.I have a HP Pavilion tx2650ep (similiar to yours) and my pen is not functioning properly. From one thay to another when I approximate my pen from the screen it interacts as i was touching and when i really touch it it acts like i was just approximating the pen.

Any idea for a solution? (I have already reinstaled the fabric software, cleaned the screen, calibrated, changed the pen nib and reainstalled the screen drives... I don't know what more to do!!!) Thanks.

Same issue with me.

MY SOLUTION THAT WORKED FOR ME:

I noticed that my computer was having a lot of issues with the NVIDIA KERNEL DRIVER that was installed via windows update. I went into device manager, looked at ALL OF MY NVIDIA DRIVERS and rolled ALL OF THEM BACK. There were only two out of the five that were updated, so I rolled those back. VOILA, it worked after I restarted. And I have seen no NVidia issues. Maybe that will work for some of you.

More on the NVidia driver: NVidia compatible windows vista kernel mode driver, both versions (177.13, 156.82) for GeForce Go 6150

Reading your problem with the update, if it is still not resolved then you should contact Microsoft by either phoning your local office/call center or reporting the problem over their website. One option to try your self is removing the update that caused that to happen, and if it is resolved and your touch screen works then re-install the updates but select the updates, don't install everything, this way you will reach a point where the update disables your touch screen, then remove it and in future updates don't select identical updates or updates of the same update.

Sometimes Microsoft releases software and hardware updates that matches your system and then they also release additional updates that then conflict with the important and required updates installed.

Also search your manufactures website and the model name, they should have solutions around this, you won't be the only owner of your laptop model with the same problem, there'll be many. Just try to solve the problem by using a program pre-installed on your laptop to search for any errors, but don't use internet software for that, if you have Vista then you should already have the software to do that.

But I'm not really sure what could be the problem other than conflicting software, as I said just contact Microsoft and report the problems and failures to them. They will ask for a couple of details and the updates installed and system information and they should immediately fix the problem through an update or they may just guide you through to fixing it

Cheers

As he said above me, contact Microsoft and have them, resolve their problem, because it is their update/s that caused your laptop to malfunction. And just use his or her suggestions above

Can't agree more

Hi,

I have a dell latitude tablet and I made my window smaller by closing my fingers on the screen but now if I try to make the window larger by opening my fingers on the screen it won't work? Did anybody else have this trouble?
Thanks.

I 've had the same problems on my HP Tx2000 Laptop, intermittently though.
Also had problems with the Quick Launch buttons.

It just happened again today, Its seems to happens whenever windows performs and update.

I reinstalled the Tablet PC driver, and I'll back in action.
I keep a copy in case it happens again.

Try this link.
