Can a Local Area Network be set up using one computer running XP and 2 running windows 8?

also, they are connected through a router

Mel,

I do not see why not. Make certain they are all in the same network (group). For sharing, you may have to make a login resources for each user (might!).

Post back with any hurdles, and I will attempt to assist.
