Folder locker USB lost password

my friend sent me a flash drive and he locked one folder with 2 gig capacity.. I had the password but so stupid of me I wrote it somewhere and I misplaced it... my friend didn't have any of the registration, serial number, not even the master password... he tried the trial version of the software, I think its from newsoftware ver. 7.1.8 .. I just wanted to know if I can still recover my data.. please shed some light here. does recovery data software works in cases like these? I just don't wanna say bye bye to my files yet... I am still hopeful here... hope someone can help me.....
