Wireless connection shows limited or no connectivity.

I recently reformatted my laptop into Windows XP Home Edition SP2. When I try to connect to the WiFi, it shows that the connection has limited or no connectivity. When I checked my IP address it shows that my IP address is 169.254.x.x. I tried ipconfig /releae and ipconfig /renew but still no luck. I also tried to change my IP address manually, and the Wi-Fi was shown connected but I couldn't access any webpage. How do i resolve this?
