on my desktop were saved xls files and now when i try to open them i get AN ERROR MESSAGE stating "the items so and so xls that this shortcut refers to has been moved so this shortcut will no longer work properly. do you want to delete this shortcut.

I'm afraid to delete it because I don't want to lose it forever. I have found the pathway, but it still can't open it HELP

Hello,

Try this 1

This happens when the original files are moved to some other location other than

your hard drive or if the original files are deleted.

Right-click on the shortcut file --> Properties --> "Find Target" and check the

exact location of the original files. If the same error message appears after

click on the "Find Target" button then the original files doesn't exist.

If you are sure that you haven't moved all the files to your pen drive etc then

try the recovery software "Recuva" without making any changes to that drive

and check if you able to find all those file in the recovery.

Click on the below hyperlink "Recuva" and download the file

Recuva

Good Luck
