I bought both games from Amazon: The Sims 3 and the expansion pack World Adventures. Installed the Sims 3 but the expansion pack says regional code error. My system is Windows 8 so I'm not getting any solutions when searched. Please help! I've waited so long for the games to arrive to get this problem now.

The US is in region 1 and you are probably in region 4. Some DVD's are coded region 0 which allows them to be played in any region. This was probably the case with the game DVD. I looks like the expansion pack was codded region 1.

The DVD in your computer can be changed to region 1. But, you are only allowed to change the region 5 times. After the 5th time you are stuck with the last region you coded. You should keep this in mind if you are buying games/DVDs via the internet/internationally.

Good Luck

From MyComputer right click on the drive

On the windows opened select the drive and click "Properties" button

From the windows select the tab "DVD Region"

Select the region clicking on a geographic area

Click OK
