I have tried all suggestions, including the software on Transcend's own site, registry key fixes, formatters, DOS formatting etc and nothing works . They all fail because the USB seems to be write protected and/or because when trying for a registry fix the drive does not show up!
it is frustrating. Any idea what could work against this locked USB drive???

Hi pirooz,

As you mentioned you have tried formatting the pen drive using all the methods and none of them worked, I would like to know if you tried to remove write protection from Command Prompt. If not, as the last step try please try the below method:

1. Click "Start".
2. Click "Run".
3. Type "CMD" and hit Enter.
4. Type "Diskpart" and hit Enter, this will open another window.
5. In this new window type "List Disk" and hit Enter.
6. Make a note of the disk ### for your pen drive.
7. Type "Attribute disk clear readonly" and hit Enter.
8. Type "Select disk ###" (### is the number of the USB pen drive you've plugged in) and hit Enter.
9. Restart the computer and see if the pen drive works.

Thank you so much for the instruction set. I will try this in the evening when I have access to the USB drive. I will report back. I had not tried this procedure before so I am anxious to have a go at it! Thanks again
