Hi Djleecz,
As you mentioned you installed Windows XP in your laptop, you will need the Audio Drivers for the sound card for audio to work. Please update the audio drivers from the manufacturer's website or reply with the exact System Model Number of your Laptop so that I can try finding the audio drivers for you.
