Windows XP Pro SP3 install with bluescreen

Hello,

I have been trying to install XP on a computer which currently has 2000 Pro. i have tried to run chkdsk and all the other things it suggests. now I am trying to find where to change the hDD controller option in bios. I cannot find it in my BIOS. The computer runs Pheonix awardBIOS v6.01 if that means anything.
