Connecting dell laptop to 40" Sony Bravia L

Hello,

I had connected my dell laptop to 40" Sony Bravia LCD TV with vga cable both side and seen the picture in the middle of the TV only, little bigger than laptop's monitor without any sonund, Can anybody help me to get the proper result? Regards
