Unable to install OS onto new hhd

Hello,
I recently replaced the hdd in my hp6910us. (old one crashed and I have no recovery discs)
My computer does not give me the option of booting from dvd/cd. That option show up in my bios but not in the boot screen. This has been an reocurring problem with this laptop.
I've copied windows 7 onto a usb thumb drive. I've tried to boot from usb hard drive but I get the error: "disk error, press any key to restart". If I press any key, the message repeats.
Is there a way to make it recognize the dvd/cd?
How do I install an os in this situation?
Thanks!

Hello,

Try this 1

Go to BIOS and change the Boot Priority or Boot order. Change the

first boot device as "CD\DVD drive" --> Save the settings and exist from the

BIOS.

[Note: Use the arrow keys to make changes in the BIOS. All the information

regarding making changes and selecting a option instructions can be found in the

BIOS screen itself]

Place the Windows 7 DVD in the DVD-drive and restart your laptop.

Good Luck
