Go in the Device manager and go under AUDIO to see if their is an exclamation mark. If yes, then right-click and go to properties and UPDATE DRIVER>
When it asks you where to browse, you need to put your original CD in and point to the CD-Rom and the directory on the CD. It will locate and install the correct driver.

Greetings,
Check whether the driver you try to install is the good.
I suggest you return to compaq official website and download the good driver according the operating system, download and install the chipset driver because you need to install it first before other devices work properly.
Good Luck!
