How To Compile 2.6.xx Kernel Tutorial Pdf

Hi,
Thanks a lot for nicely made doc.
I have a question.
I built the 2.6.16.13 kernel using this doc on mahcine with X86 arch, and 2.4.X kernel level.

Can I use this kernel I built to install on a box having 2.6 as a base version.

Install what?

Kernels are specific to hardware. If the hardware is different, the kernel may or may not have support for any devices.
