Hello,

This issue doesn't discrimate between IE 6 or 7.

When I click on a drop down or select a button within a webpage that opens up another window, the window will attempt to open then I hear a "blip" and the pop up goes away.

Yes, Pop-up blocker is turned off. It seems to be associated with documents or printer friendly pages.

Anyone have a clue?

Thanks in advance,

BB

Configuration: Windows XP
Internet Explorer 7.0

Hi,

it may be that your IE security options were changed.
>Tools
>Internet Options
>Security
Try setting everything to the default settings.

also check if they are blocked by your spywares.

For IE7 / XP with IE pop up and IE closing on its own can be solved by making the security to default and allow popup button on browser clicked.

Coder,

your advice is useless. I have a user with this problem and we don't own the site it occurs on and the problem does not occur on all clients. Do you have any actual wisdom or advice?

Two days ago, with no changes to my system, IE8's pop up blocker stopped working... I'm on Vista.

I did a series of checks and changes and pop ups still rear their annoying head.

This is what I did...

1. Full virus scan. Turned up nothing.
2. Uninstalled IE8, reverted to IE7. Pop ups still appared with IE7.
3. Chanaged all IE8 security setting to High. Pop ups still appeared.
4. Restored my PC to two days previous to when the pop ups started. Pop ups still appeared.

After doing all this, I'm still getting pop ups!

If anyone has a solution, that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

In ie 8, there is a problem with popups opening and closing right away.
The solution is on tools/internet options and security
Add the site to trusted sites and set the level to med –low.
It would be nice to know exactly what the setting is that is freed up with this setting…
But I did get the popup window to do its job with these settings.
