Beep while turning on my computer

Hello, i was turning my compute on lastnight when i heard a beep and it was for about seconds or more, and when the beep is over my screen remains black i.e. nothing appears on the screen it remains blank

Configuration: Windows XP
Firefox 2.0.0.12
