I have an Acer Aspire 5553 which I want to use partly at home as a desktop, with seperate keyboard, screen and mouse.
With my old Compaq I could shut the lid and park it out of the way .
But now if I do that the Acer goes to sleep.
Is there a setting that prevents this?

Thanks for any reply.

Just seen an earlier post and reply from Gavinemb re power settings in control panel.
This worked for me too. So thanks.

go to Control Panel-Power Settings-Advanced, and set "Do Nothing" for the "Close Lid" option. I'm speaking for XP. on Win7 it may be a bit different but generally this setting should be in Control Panel and Power Options/Settings.
Hope this helps.
