Startup/Shutdown Picture won't go away!!Solved/Closed

Question

Hello, when I turn off my computer or start it up a picture comes up and I cant seem to change it or delete it. The problem is its of my ex so my fiance has to see it everytime we turn on/off the comp. Kind of a messed up situation. I have an Acer 9300 and run Windows XP. Please help!! The picture goes up for a few minutes and then goes away, but I need to get it off completely. Thank you please help!

go to www.Wincustomise.Com and download the boot skin.. It is freeware and u can change the welcome screen.. Or install some themes it will change the welcome screen.

This is strange.  Look in the "Startup" folder.  click on START - ALL PROGRAMS and STARTUP  you will get a list of programs that auto start with Windows - you should find things like OFFICE or MOUSE or Antivirus  software.  If you find anything that looks strange report back to us.

One thing to do is find the picture of your EX and replace it.  click START  and SEARCH  and "pictures or video" the PC should start a search and show all the Picture files on the computer.  If you find her picture RIGHT click on it and select "properties" the box will list the folder where the file is located.  You can then copy another picture to this folder/file name.

Those programs don't look like they could display that picture.  The start command must be hidden within the registry.  I would try the SEARCH to find the name of the picture file - then you could search the registry for the command that displays that picture.

IF it's displaying it - it MUST be stored on the hard drive somewhere.  Try a search for "*.bmp" files without the quotes.

You might try finding the startup program using msconfig  see the instructions at this site:

Let's try something else.  Go to the Control Panel and "Add or Remove Programs" .  Look for a program that might be generating the screen image.   Be careful what you remove.  It's best to ask us before you remove anything.

i finally found it!! it was saved in wallpaper for some reason... found it, deleted it, gtg. thank you so much!

I don't know if this will work but I was getting annoyed because my boyfriend had a picture of his ex girlfriend as his shut down screen and when I was fiddling about I accidentally changed his desktop background picture to me. After some more fiddling, I shut the computer down to see if anything had worked and MY face came up, not hers! I think it relates to the last picture you had as your main deskop picture. My boyfriend has a plain black desktop screen and even after I changed it back to being that, and not me, the shutting down picture was still of me. 
I hope that made sense for you...
The fiddling I did was:

Click on "start" then to "run" then typed in REGEDIT. 
Navigated to "HKEY USERS"
then ".DEFAULT"
then "Control Panel"
then "Desktop"
then I changed "TileWallPaper" to 1
and "WallPaperStyle" to 2. 

Not quite sure what that did but it all worked out ok for me.
