Hello,
I keep getting the following message when trying to install the latest version of itunes:
"There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expercted. Contact your support personnel or package vendor."

I have tried many different options but nothing has allowed me to install the latest version. Any help would be appreciated.

thanks

Configuration: Windows XP
Internet Explorer 6.0

I had the same problem with XP, and as unlikely as it is, this thing worked

Nothing else seemed to work in installing Itunes or quicktime.

I have the same problem, i'm trying to update iTunes and keep getting this message "the feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable, click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'iTunes.msi' in the box below" any ideas how to sort this out?

This is what worked for me. I had the error message with itunes and quicktime.

I downloaded windows installer cleanup utility. (You must download this first)
Then open the cleanup wizard (start, all programs, windows installer....)
Select Itunes then remove
Select Quicktime then remove
This removes all existing versions so that you may install like it is the first time.

Hope this helps

I had the same problem and finally, I find this solution on another forum:

Go to add or remove programs in the control panel, on Windows 7, just go to start, control panel, and then uninstall a program. Find Apple Software Update on the list, and click on repair. Once that is done, try to download iTunes again and it should work.
