All these replies urging us to go to a website and download an updated ethernet controller driver are useless because you can't even access the internet without the ethernet controller, unless you have a second PC already hooked up to work with the internet, then make a copy of the ethernet driver, and then copy it onto the original PC to get it acces the intenet. Most people may have to go to a computer repair store and ask if they can buy the ethernet controller driver for their OS and PC on a CD or flashdrive, or instead, but an external Ehternet controller device and connect it to your PC via USB.

tell them like it is Tony, it doesn't make any sense if you can't get connected.

I had the same problem, and I have been searching for some hours now, but I fix it on my laptop. The device seams to be an "atheros ar5005g". I have a Satellite A100 (PSAA2) and I installed the "Atheros Wireless LAN Adapter" from this page:

http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/wlan/?page=downloads

AND I UP AND RUNNING :-))))))))))))

If you have a usb connector you can use that.
Once its recognized as hardware to install you'll
be able to connect to the internet & look for your
drivers. I had a similar situation and was able to
find all xp drivers except the ethernet for gateway.
At the moment I don't need it though. It takes a
while to make it show up on your pc, but in your
case im sure you'll be fine trying that out

MY ACER ASPIRE 4530 ETHERNET AND NVIDIA VGA IS NOT INSTALL I NEED THE DRIVERS
vanillarustvanillarust - Jul 16, 2009 11:32PM
I have an Acer 4720z. I have the same problem. No drivers for net controller anywhere. I even bought the so-called restore discs. They have no drivers on them. What a waste. I called ACER, they were so rude. My advice, throw it away and warn your friends. Acer is made by e machine. NEVER buy another.

First find the web site for the motherboard manufacturer. You should find the drivers you need within the "support" tab.

Good Luck

I ordered the "Recovery Discs" from Acer, then found out they don't recover. Acer doesn't put the drivers on. So much for recovery. Anyway, I got on another PC, download a copy of Black XP, installed and it's working just fine. Acer, Gateway and e-Machine are all made by the same companny. I'd suggest never buying any of their GARBAGE!! If you call, they are extremely rude and as long as they got your money, they're done with you!! No help whatsoever.
