XBox 360 vs. PS3

Hi!

I really need some help guys…

I am going to buy a new system very soon and I need to know if there are any big advantages or disadvantage over one system compared to the other.

I was first thinking to get to PS3 – which seems to be the most powerfull system - but the XBox 360 looks more reasonable in terms of price and Halo 3 is already out for this one.

Plus one plays Blue Ray disks and the other play HD DVD.

I’m still very confuse on the choice I should do between the two systems.

All arguments are welcome.

Thanks

My advice first would be that you buy the system that has the games you want to play...

Also, as you said, PS3 plays Blue-Ray movies, but they cost about 30 bucks for the same movie that you can get on standard DVD for 15 – and I’m not sure the difference is so big…

The 360 will only play HD-DVD if you buy the add-on player, but with the price of Toshiba stand alone players there is no point in buying that.

I love the constructive arguments that 360 owners use to justify their purchase. Oooh, PS3 sucks - thanks for that informative, & well thought out criticism. The only argument I ever hear of now in favour of the 360 is that the online is better, but whenever you ask how, you don't get an answer - cos if it's just cross game voice chat you get for your money, think I'll stay with the free option, & I don't have to suffer listening to your kind spewing immature drivel over your headsets every time I want to go online. Even if I did go online with the 360, & suffered the 12 years old f'ing & blinding all the time, it wouldn't last long as it'd either red ring, E74 on me, or it'd turn my game discs into coffee coasters. Occasionally some spotty oik will still spout the crap that the PS3 has no games, but they are still living in 2007 so we can forgive them their below average IQ, & newly discovered hormones for that, but I still don't want to associate with these people online.
I'm not suggesting that all 360 owners are retarded monkeys with mush for brains, & satans clagnuts for a personality, but they are definitely out there....way out there!

First of all i have both systems and let me tell you that you would have a lot more fun with the xbox 360

First reason,Achievement points :You can get achievement points with xbox like any thing you do special you would get some points but you can't trade the points for any thing but if you get online you can buy Microsoft points and buy games like GTA San Andreas and the first Halo. With Playstation 3 no.

Second reason,Online play: Xbox 360 just tears the PS3 up into shreds

It's got cross game chat, &...ermm...er..aahh, nope that's all I've got. I've also never seen an answer past that one reason. But it must be better surely, after all Microsoft charges you for it. Nope, I'm still drawing a blank. Somebody please enlighten us lowly PS3 owners what we're missing? Pretty please, oh go on, you know you want to.

The PS3 does have Trophies y'know.
Like gamescore, but instead of a score, Trophies.
Bronze for low level awards.
Silver for medium.
Gold for higher.
Platinum for getting all other trophies in the game.

I'd go with PS3

i'll tell you why
Online gaming is great and coming. with Xbox you have to pay for this, while on PS3 this is free. and i never experienced lags yet on ps3. so thats one reason to buy a ps3.

but ofcourse xbox 360 is cheaper. so that money you could put in online gaming.
still i think ps3 is the choice. with blu-ray and HD-DVD's not even being produced no more by large companies. i think ps3 is the standard.

Dude for me there's no doubt the PS3 is better but it's far more expensive than the Xbox 360 but if you want some exclusive games like Metal Gear Solid 4, you will have to go for a PS3 but if you're not interested in these games you can go for a 360 as most of the game are available on the 360.

There is one reason and one reason only to choose the ps3 EVER, Blu Ray, nothing else, how any of these f-ing fanboys can say it's better just because of the free PSN, they are truely out of there f-ing minds. Yes XBOX live does cost money, how much you may ask, the cost of one new game for a YEAR, whats wrong with that? Absolutely nothing!!!! Thats rite, you guessed it, I am a 360 fanboy, I love my 360, wouldn't get rid of it if you paid me to. But guess what else, I do want a PS3, but only for the Blu Ray player, figure if I'm gonna watch High Def movies on this BA TV of mine, I might as well make sure the thing can play games also.

19

Kaden101, on Mar 12, 2009 10:02:31 am GMT
  • +18

When you bring up the online cost as a negative to 360 owners, they say live is better, & "you get what you pay for", but in the same breath say that the PS3 is too expensive. See your own logic.

For 360 achievement points, you get Trophies on the PS3. 360 owners say achievments are better, but as Xbox 360 Lover stated so eloquently on Jan 3rd at 06:08pm "You can get achievement points with xbox like any thing you do special you would get some points but you can't trade the points for any thing", which is the same as Trophies. Please tell me why they're better, cos it sounds the same to me, but with a different name?

You say Blu-Ray isn't important, but surely on a purely gaming level, & ignoring the, it plays movies bit, it allows for more information on the disc, which has got to be a good thing.

Forced installs on the PS3 are a bad thing, but installs on the 360 are a good thing, apparently (because the DVD drive sounds like a ferrell cat eating a brick)! The fact that it's optional on the 360 is a plus, but as the lack of any install on Killzone 2 shows, it's more of a development issue than the PS3 not being able to run things of disc.

Jimmy stated on 4th March at 15:42 "Yo the 360 is way better than the ps3 all of the good games come out on the 360 first". Yeah, maybe in 2007.

Oh, & on the cost of Blu-Ray movies vs DVD, there's now only about £2-£3 in it.

Don't let PS3 or 360 fanboys persuade you one way or the other. If you like Halo, & Gears of War, & like the look of Alan Wake, etc, etc, get a 360. If you like Metal Gear Solid 4, Little Big Planet, Motorstorm Pacific Rift, & like the look of Gran Turismo 5, God of War III, Heavy Rain, Infamous, etc, etc, & want to be able to play hi-def Blu-Ray discs, & game for free online wirelessly get a PS3 (yes, I listed more on the PS3 because I have one, & therefore am more aware of what's coming out on it, I am not suggesting for a second that there's only 3 things worth getting on the 360).

Hope that clears things up a bit.

I would recommend the PS3 because I think it will last way longer than the Xbox 360
I think because of the lack of a Blu-ray drive, the 360 will (after a while) support less and less games, as the blu-ray disc continues to grow as the standard.

Take note, that this is just my speculation, and if this becomes the truth, it will take some time. The PS3 costs a bit more, but I think that's for a reason. Furthermore, the 360 has a lot of unsolved bugs (Red Ring of death, scratches on the discs etc.), while the PS3 doesn't have that kind of problems.

I don't know if you want to play online, but Live costs money, while the PS3 network doesn't. Live doesn't cost that much, so it isn't that much of a problem, but it's kind of annoying that you have to pay for it. So it's your choice...
My guess is that the 360 needs replacing soon, while the PS3 doesn't.

Good luck finding your choice!

I'm surprised no one's mentioned Xbox 360's repeated red ring of death and frequent over heating problems. Perhaps it's resolved now but I witnessed friends go months at a time without a 360 while waiting for Microsoft to ship them another replacement. Several times over, and up to 8 months without an Xbox.

Sony certainly does have the more reliable hardware.
However this is the way the console wars always seem to go. Whoever builds the best console (best hardware, fastest platform) forgets to make things simple for developers - developers have to learn how to take advantage of the new hardware and can adapt faster to the lesser platform - the lesser platform gets the better gaming contracts.

You don't see many xbox 360 cluster supercomputers do you? Hands down the Playstation3 has far more computing power however it takes well optimized code designed very specifically to take advantage of the cell processor in order to harness that power. The 360 is much more ready to go and even has a free C# sdk to make developers lives easier. This is where microsoft is thinking about the end user for a change and where Sony, Toshiba, and IBM (joint researchers of the cell processor used in the ps3) are experimenting with raw revolutionary power.

At the end of the day it doesn't matter which is most powerful - look at the games you like, see what system has most of them, consider the live gaming features, your wallet, and go for it. They've both got their pro's and con's. If you get a 360 be careful where you put it - be sure it's well ventilated.

360 Advantages:
-Estimated 7,000 more live users over PSN
-Achievement points can be used to get stuff such as games (Trophies havn't received a purpose, YET!)
-Cost less (at first).
-Free Mic
-More free down loadable content

360 Disadvantages:
-Cost for online play
-Lacks blue ray player
-hard ware failure (red ring of death, disk scratches, and system over heatings)
-Lower Graphics (nothing really to noticeable at the time)
-No web Browser
-100$ just to get wifi
-You need to download patch to watch HD DvDs
-The system is quite loud
-Bad Tech support (I've heard some stories)
-Non-Chargable controller (unless component bought)
-Can't install games to HD
-Can't listen to music in game (might have changed)
-Will be replaced sooner by a more up-to-date xbox that stands with the ps3 complexity
-Less console only games coming out in this year coming
-Comes with free Mic. so you get all those damn annoying 5 y/o

PS3 Advantages:
-Free online
-Better graphics (Once again slightly noticable)
-Blue-Ray player
-No system hardware problems known to date
-Has a web browser ( can use Youtube, myspace, and etc.)
-Free built in wifi
-The PS3 is Silent!
-Chargeable controller
-Great tech support (better the microsofts)
-Can install games to HD
-can listen to music in game
-Ps3 will last longer (due to it complex cell processor)
-More games coming out in future for the console

Ps3 Disadvantages:
-The Cost
-Less PSN users (appx. 7k less)
-Complex system
-Blue ray disks cost more
-Dosnt come with a Mic. {you cant buy any old Blue tooth mic for $20 to use with it)

PS3, 360 Neutral:
The games are preference related

PS3 Summary:
As of right now PS3 is a quieter, more reliable system, that cost more at first, but is lacking some of the great 360 only games and online user community. But due to it reliability and complexity will last longer and save you money in the long haul.

XBOX 360 Summary:
The 360 is a great cheap system that has great games and a great online community. But due to its hardware problems, cost to play online, and just a cost to use wifi makes it victim to PS3's more expensive but cheaper all around system.

Note:
It all boils down to which games you want to play and what games your looking to get outta your system/ do with it. Now by reading all what i just wrote u might think that I'm a PS3 Fan Boy but truth is I'm not, Truth is that 360 is slowly but surely losing out to PS3. Sorry if i offended any of you hard core 360 fanboys but I'm just stating the truth.

Note 2: I own both systems and Have online accounts and such on both systems.

Just so you know, you can install games to the hard drive for the 360(new with NXE) and you can listen to music during games(Always have been) and there are roughly the same amount of games coming out for both systems and also a pro for the 360 is the downloadable arcade games. I own an xbox 360 and i have never had hardware failures (athough i know some people who have, but the new xboxs fixed the rrod)

Quote "The only sane person" "the new xboxs fixed the rrod". That's not what I hear from shop staff at Game who are still getting 360's back daily, & it isn't like the RROD in the only problem they have. E74 & other error messages, noisy dvd drives that scratch the discs if you dare to walk around the room when it's switched on (seen Watchdog recently?).

Class yourself as lucky if your 360 hasn't ruined any of your games, or ruined itself yet.

Listen, Xbox 360 May Seem cheaper at the shops when browsing but here are some disadvantages about xbox 360.

You have to pay for xbox live £40/$40 a year - Ps3 Is Free For Ever

Wireless Connection Box - £50/$50- PS3 has built in wireless so no need

If you dont play very well you can get suspended for a few hours or even days!/ Ps3 would never do that.

The games like halo only come out because they get declined by sony because sony would never stoop that low for halo or any other games " only for xbox 360.

Graphics are good but not as good as ps3 ! - Ohhh Yeahhh

You end up paying endless amounts of money in hidden costs- ps3 dont.

Risk of xbox breaking like every day - all my freinds xboxes has got the red ring of death - PS3 IS UNBEATABLE!

and to sum it all up there start up menu is very complicated and i just could not get my head around it....with ps3 i picked it up straight away!.

Overall i give xbox a 5 and ps3 9.5 out of 10 ! //// Obvs because they rule /// i would call you a fool if you decided to buy an xbox and would get my ps3 buddies to kick you ass till you changed!.

XBOX IS AWFUL, PS3 IS GREAT, THE GAMES RULE AND FREE CONNECTION IS ALL I NEED XBOX SHOULD GO BUST :D !

GOOD LUCK WITH CHOOSING MATE.

Wow that is a bunch of shit. what r u 12? there is no comparison for sony and xbox. where do you get your facts? sure sony has a few. and only a few exclusive titles. but the xbox blows it out the water. so you and ur friends can suck a dick. fanboy. oh by the way. do to sells of the 2 consoles microsoft is kicking sonys ass. and theres the harddrives melting in the ps3 so yeah all i need to say.

76

Kaden101, on Apr 23, 2009 6:15:19 am BST
  • +1

Whilst the Middleman might not be totally correct as I'd say the 360 has more exclusives out now & a bigger back catalogue, the upcoming line up of the PS3 currently looks better, & 360 exclusives usually end up on PC anyway, so if you've got a half decent gaming PC, a PS3 would probably be a wiser investment as their exclusives usually are...exclusive that is.

Oh, & Anon, what the hell are you on about hard drives melting in PS3's. I can only assume that you mean people who've upgraded their hdd & put in a 7200rpm one (runs faster, therefore hotter) instead of a 5400rpm which as I understand it you shouldn't do. Apart from that reason I can't think of any reason why you even dare bring up reliability as an issue compared to the 360. Let's see

RROD - yeah Microsoft covers that - woo hoo for their extended warranty - shouldn't happen in the first place.
E74 - yeah Micrsoft finally admitted to that - how many 360 owners have bought 2nd consoles because until now Microsoft kept denying it was anything to do with them. Yeah, they can get their money back if they had to pay for an E74 fixed, but who'd do that when you knew it would probably fry again, & Microsoft kept saying that their newer consoles were fixed - like hell they were.
DVD scratching - Microsoft still denying this one - see www.youtube.com/?v=UbaJgEjY-s8 for more information on that one - Blockbusters (UK) now have scratch removing machines in their stores to wangle some money out of unfortunate 360 owners - or you could try T-Cut, that works sometimes (alchohol to clean it off afterwards).
Anything else, tough, same warranty as a PS3

So even though they might have got the failure rate of the 360% well down from the abysmal 30% ratio, they as a company are still failing 33% on not covering known faults, & who knows what else will crop up, after all, they just keep on coming.

28

Killbill, on Mar 21, 2009 9:02:12 am GMT

The PS3 is a single player console - believe me the online sucks for this machine. There is a reason that the PS3's online is free.... If you want to play online there is only one choice - 360 all the way. If you are happy playing alone and/or want the Blu-ray then go for the PS3. This isn't really a gaming console though - the only decent (and that's debatable uhnless you're a fanboy) game is MGS. 360 has tons of good games and they tend to be less expensive to buy also.

In my opinion the choice is a no brainer - sorry Sony you've had your day - the way forward for gaming is the 360.

29

Kaden101, on Mar 21, 2009 11:08:12 am GMT
  • +4

Killbill, you're entitled to your opinion, even if it is wrong. To state that the online sucks, & that it isn't really a gaming console are such sweeping statements that you must be fanboy. I hardly use the PS3 for the media abilities, & gaming is 99% of its use. I use it everyday, & aren't so bored that I'm thinking of getting a 360 yet.
I'm not suggesting for a second that the PS3 online is better than the 360, that'd be stupid. After all, the 360 online is a paid for service, so it should be better.
I have played plenty online on the PS3 with no problems, & enjoyed every moment.
I think the main difference is the cross game chat, & the fact that there's a lot more headset communication on the 360, which is fine if that's what your into. Some people like myself enjoy playing online for the challenge of playing against real people, but that doesn't necessarily mean I want to chat to every Tom, Dick, & Harry. I'm fine with the fact that not everybody has a headset, & I don't have to listen to little boys cursing every time they get killed.
Oh, & saying that MGS4 is the only decent game on the PS3 is again a stupidly sweeping statement. So in other words, every multiplatorm game on the 360 that's also on the PS3 must be rubbish by your logic. As for exclusives, there's plenty out now.

Killzone 2

Warhawk
Flower
Uncharted: Drakes Fortune

are just some of them.

& I'm not even going to bother stating all of the ones that are coming out because it's been said so many times before.
I'm sure the 360 is a wonderful gaming platform before it fries itself. Yep, that's right, I'm going to bring up reliability again. I have been told very recently by shop staff at Game (UK Stores) that they are still getting 360's back on a daily basis with RROD, E74, & DVD problems, & these include Falcon & Japser models, but hardly get any PS3's back. You can harp on about the 3 year warranty (that only covers RROD) all you want, the simple fact is that Microsoft botched their quality control, & they should have recalled the lot of them until they fixed it. Any other product with that initial level of failure has been.
The PS3 might not be perfect, but the 360 is hardly the epitamy of technological achievment.

Actually the games you stated are 90% of sonys good library. that said its a joke ha ha ha ha. xbox has many many more games to choose from. and its hardrive doesnt melt. they both have there problems. sony still having more than microsoft now. the only big advantage sony once had over microsoft was final fantasy. and now even thats coming to xbox. and the fact most games that come out for both usually only have updates and expansions for the 360 version. dont waste your money on ps3. and if you do ull regret it. only known of 3 people buying a ps3 and 2 of em had to return em. but in the end its up to what games u like to play. and if sony can get there heads out there ass and fix the bugs and figure out how to make games for the system it might actually be worth purchasing one day. hope it aint to late. gt is one of the best racing games.

Melting hard drives - don't talk rubbish - my PS3 barely gets warm. You've got some cahoneys if you dare bring up a reliability issue in a PS3/360 forum, I'll give you that. As for exclusives, yes presently the 360 has more, that's fine, it's been out longer - problem is I can play most of them on my gaming PC at some point. How many PS3 exclusives can you do that with? As for your comment suggesting Sony need to get their heads out of their ass & start fixing the bugs (what bugs, I think you're confusing badly designed unrealible piece of crap with the 360, blah blah warranty, blah blah, brainwashed by Microsoft) & figure out how to make games for the system. Sorry, but Sony's exclusive upcoming line up looks a lot better than anything I've seen in the Microsoft camp recently. As for DLC, apart from the ability to continue Fallout 3 I haven't seen anything I'd want. You just carry on eating up cheap add-ons for GTAIV whilst PS3 owners will be looking forward to getting full exclusive games that will push the PS3 hardware. Oh, & I don't care that Final Fantasy is coming to the 360, it's good for Square Enix so that can make a profit & carry on making Final Fantasy games, doesn't matter to me which platform it's on as long as it's awesome.

Erm...excuse me. i am not a fanboy of any sort. let me just say this.

advantages of 360:
Great online play
good games
mainly FPS games (first person shooters)
generally multiplayer online.
lots of downloadable content
community games
play music while you play games
can watch movies and tv shows with netflix subscription
acheivment points

Disadvantages of 360
yes you do have to pay for live, however the online service is unbeatable.
generally xbox customer support sucks. (ive spent hours on the phoneyou have to pay to change your gamertag (there are ways around this)
older models of the 360 will have the red ring problem and overheating. ect.

advantages of PS3
acceptable online play
great games
Mainly racing,adventure, platformers
blu ray disk player (i dont consider this an advantage, but whatever floats your boat)
can play music while playing
more disk space
free online play
alot of space on the harddrive

Disadvantages of PS3 (yes there are disadvantages)
although the blu ray disks have more space, they do read much much slower than a regular dual layered disk
free online play is free, but not amazing
expensive (because of the blu ray)
not enough of a game menu
more load time for games because of the slow disk read

once again i am NOT A FANBOY of either one. overall they are both great systems in their own way.
if you like fps go for 360 if you like adventure/racing/platformers go PS3.

yes i own both i also own a wii i play all 3 very often and i enjoy them equally and individually.
there is a console for everyone really, it just depends on your gaming style whether to get a PS3 Xbox 30 or a wii.

(NEXT GEN. CONSOLES FTW!!!!!!!)

Everyone talking about the PS3 being free online should do a little research and find out that ......(quote)"Publishing sources told us that Sonys previously un-reported new PlayStation Network Bandwidth Fee is forcing them to think twice about what content they offer to PS3 gamers for download." No such thing as a free lunch, don't worry sony will get you one way or another....bet you they will start a yearly "demo fee" very soon

Oh, I love how the fanboys grab hold of every tiny little morsel when they jump on the Sony bashing bandwagon. As far as the publisher download fees are concered. It's what, 16pence or cents per GB. If it's a chargeable download, ie, a game, then they can add that extra cost on, & pass it onto the customers. Most downloads are less than a GB anyways, so it's hardly going to make a difference. As far as the free content is concerned (demo's & trailers), that's advertising. Do you think Ford don't have to pay to advertise their new Fiesta on TV, or Microsoft didn't have to pay to advertise Vista, nah, didn't think so., & it's only for the first 60 days on the free stuff. Personally I think Sony are being generous, & I'd rather the cost went to the publisher than me having to pay an arbitrary monthly fee.
Find something good to criticize, like reliability issues, or scratched DVD's, or a dead Hi-Def disc format, or a massive power brick taking up space, or having to pay for a charge & play pack for the controllers. Ya know, something worthwhile like that. Well we can all be petty, can't we.
The 360 is obviously a worthwhile platform if 28 million people can look past it's faults. Give Sony a break.

Sorry, I meant to say "glaring" faults, & 28 million "people" will be an incorrect amount. We don't know how many of those 360's are to replace dead consoles, or 2nd units bought by hardcore gamers so that they still have a console when the one they're using bricks. Just a thought, or am I being petty again. Probably, but that doesn't make it a lie.

That'll never happen. It's a fair point that they do basically the same thing, but fanboys being fanboys don't do rational. They have to justify their purchase by putting the other system down. If they just pointed out the positives & negatives to each other in a rational logical conversation it'd be fine, but it eventually comes down to insults, at which time your forced to get sarcastic on them, & anyway, it's more fun this way. I just laugh my arse off at the imbeciles.

TOo begin i have both consoles, owned xbox 360 since release date and ps3 since my birthday this year in march.

XBOX good points

Good catalogue of games already out
Online gaming is great and worth the £40 a year charge
Also free silver account - can not play online but can create an avatar etc.
Games like Halo 3 and Gears 2 are great exclusive titles.
Xbox marketplace - Films, Demo's, trailers! all must be purcahsed with microsoft points. 1000 MS points = £10 ish
XBOX bad points
Reliability - I'm onto my 6th xbox since release (5 of which have been xbox elites!)
So i recommend getting 2 year cover with the store that you buy from so that if something go's wrong you have piece of mind that the console will be swapped right over!
£40 a year seemed great until you play ps3 online, makes you wonder what you actually need to pay for! Must features are coming to or have came to ps3. Online gameplay versus PS3 is very similar, more on ps3 in a moment.
HD-DVD Drive add on, absolutely worthless now!
actual disc drive sounds like a plane taking off
Overheating problems happen often and would recommend a fan/Intercooler!

PS3 Good Points
Blu-ray player - It is the future for movies in to be displayed in HD, Blu ray disc's = Bigger games, more levels and more details! Killzone 2 could never be ported to xbox purely because of size!
Exclusive games including Metal gear, LBP and Killzone (Best graphical and possibly the best FPS i have ever played in existance to this day)
Games online can have up to 32 players, and Resistance 2 has the capability to have 60 players online!!!
Online gaming quality is very good, same standard as xbox live and it really does make you wonder what the £40 a year is going towards.
Create as many accounts as you wish.
PSN Store is improving alot in the month that i have had a ps3 for, lots of content seems to have been added.
Built in wi-fi
smaller 80gb hard drive that can however be upgraded to 320gb

PS3 Bad Points
Initial cost £349+, you have to think what you're getting with it though it is alot of kit!
Games at the moment, biggest titles are killzone 2 and resistance maybe socom confrontation too. Just too little at the moment but by the end of 2009 PS3 will start to come into it's own.
Really need a HD TV to appreciate the quality of the games and blu-ray films

Personally i prefer ps3, but i'm lucky enough to get both. If you want a console for the long run i would recommend the PS3 as there is alot more potential than that of the xbox 360. I do like both consoles and still alternate between both of them. But the future i think is with sony.

Yes...yes..,.yes, i have an xbox360 i kind of do have a playstation3 too because my brother has one so i play it
but wat i play on the xbox360 the most is gtaIV the best grand theft auto out right now but as i was saying i think it is a tie between xbox 360 and playstation 3 yes xbox 360 has disadvantages but playstation3 does too because nobody can make anything perfectso too me you should just get both to me because they are both really great systems, xbox 360 and playstation 3 both rule right now so just get both thank you. GET GTA IV IT RULES

Kaiden, for you to refer to other people as fan boys is quite amazing. Your the biggest sony fan boy there is, iv read the posts in the thread and you say how it comes down to insults for the so called fan boys, you have more insults in your posts than any other person. Quite frankly if you care so much about this console you need to get a life.
Personally i have an Xbox 360 as i like the online system and halo 3 oblivion, using my wired controller with my pc. Some of my friends have Ps3's which i enjoy playing killzone and so on. The end of the day they do the same its down to the games you like. And going on about scratching disks and rrod. Ive had no disks that scratch, i have had the rrod, which i got back within 7 days, not to much of a inconvenience, i can live without it. Power pack is large yes but how you can say tht when the size of the ps3 is enormous, but like they normally do they will put out a slim version for some more money. The smallest console being the wii.

Price difference, there is going to be one as the ps3 has blue ray which is good, and has the wireless built in amongst other things.

The best combination i belive to be a Xbox 360 and a Wii. The Wii is such a fun console with friends round and a beer, and if i fancy some FPS or Racing i enjoy the online of the Xbox. IF you like killzone, gt, little big planet obviously the ps3 is your console.

Hey Pecky,

I'm not so much a fanboy as I enjoy a good argument, & like putting down people who use arguments like "ps3 suck pe'nis, 360 rulz, if u like ps3 u sux cock", & I'm generally a sarcastic git. You'll probably notice that most of my bitchy replies are to these kind of posts.. I also appreciate it when somebody comes back with a constructive argument showing that there is some intelligence & thought left in the world.

I don't have anything against the 360 apart from the reliability, & the Microsoft warranty is only there so they don't get sued. The power supply, although big isn't really an issue, how upset can you really get about a power supply (the Wii has got an external one as well, but Ninty's console is twee to start with) Oh, & speaking of size, the PS3 is like what, about 5mm bigger than the 360. Because I live with my faince the PS3 is a tidier option for me, it's one unit with everything built in, It's sat on a floating shelf out in the open next to the Wii, so I can't hide the wires, & PSU etc. I also use the Wi-fi so it makes sense..for me.

The best combination for me is the PS3 & Wii attached to the TV, & my gaming PC in the other room. PS3 exclusives are generally (but not always) exclusive, whereas most 360 exclusives end up on PC at some point, although Fable II could do with hurrying up, it's the one 360 exclusive I really want (don't care about Halo, first one was good, wasn't keen after that, tried Gears of War 1 on PC, but due to "Windows Live or Live for Windows, whatever it's called" being so badly designed that I couldn't play more than 15 minutes without it crashing out I gave it up as a bad job, I was impressed, but not blown away enough to buy another console for it - Just Google Gears of War PC crash if you don't belive me - even after they patched it).

So, although I may come across as a fanboy some times as I like to rant, I have in the past (on other forums) also had a go at PS3 owners for being dicks. Dicks after all aren't exclusive.

Let me tell u somethin, ps3 is shit. the first thing is that xbox 360 has the same graphics, i don't know y people say that ps3 has better graphics wen it is the same. the games for xbox 360 r much better. they have more games than ps3. the dashboard looks more exciting.

Hey Pecky,

It's eejits like warkid here that make me do it. I have no control, I can't resist replying to them in the same vain as their posts. It's like an addiction. I'll try to be kind to the little moron, but I can't make any guarantees.

Right Warkid,

Let me tell you something (yes, that's how the words should look), you state that the PS3 is shit, & yet say that it has the same graphics. Doesn't that make the 360 also shit. You say the games are (yes I'm still correcting your text speak spelling) much better for the 360, I say they aren't if I want to play Motorstorm: PR, or Killzone 2, or Little Big Planet, or Heavenly Sword, or Uncharted, or GT5P, & when they come out God of War III, or Heavy Rain, or MAG, or Infamous, or Uncharted 2, or Gran Turismo 5, etc etc..you get the jist.

People say the graphics are better on the PS3 because of Killzone 2, & GT5P, & the trailer for God of War III, & the trailer for Uncharted 2. As a rule the graphics on the 2 consoles are very similar, but recent exclusives on the PS3 are showing an edge. On the other hand, if the screenshots I saw for Alan Wake were for the 360 & not the PC & if it really does look that good then I'll hold up my hands & applaud the developer for a job well done. At the moment it's marginal between them.

As for the 360 having more games, yes it does, it's been out longer, but having a look at the number of exclusives in Wikipedia there's not that much in it. 160+ for the 360, 130+ for the PS3 - this includes PSN Store, Xboxlive Store, & some upcoming titles for both platforms. Neither platform is short of games. The argument that PS3 has no games is so 2007.

The dashboard looks more exciting. I can't believe your bringing up the excitment level of a menu. If you like the NXE dashboard then good for you, but the XMB is an award winning system that is easy to use & logical, it's not meant to be exciting, it's meant to be useable.

There you go, I think I was very restrained considering what a lame argument was put forward in the first place.

LOL, let me tell you something boy, i own both systems and the PS3 isn't shit only reason your saying that is because you don't have one. Cause if you did have one you would know it ain't shit and that its better then 360. Second kinda refers to the first comment because if you had a PS3 you would see that it has better graphics and one game that deff has better graphics then anything 360's got is killzone. And third fyi 360 doesn't really have more games then PS3, their exclusives equal about the same except Sony doesn't advertise as much. LOL 360 dash board is shitty, and uhh note also that ps3 games use blueray. I still give props to 360 it's just that 360 was better at first now PS3 is better.
