glitch with photoshop CS3 on vistaClosed

Question

Hello, im quite new to photoshop and only 15 but...
When I use photoshop CS3 everything works fine until I try to write in a text box
nothing shows.
I've heard that pressing ctrl, alt and shift when loading photoshop it opens up a preference window this allows you to delete your preferences.
however when I press ctrl, alt and shift nothing happens..
I don't know what to do because i need to be able to add texts to my graphics for projects I am doing
can you please help me?

make the text box bigger, or double click with the type tool to get a square whcich you type from

When you see the infamous hand, it just means you have inadvertantly pressed the space bar.  Simply press it again and things will return to normal.
