SOLVED!!!! (1) download flash for firefox, but DONT INSTALL YET! (2) right-click firefox, select PROPERTIES. (3) click on COMPATABILITY tab. (4) select the RUN PROGRAM IN WINDOWS XP SP2 MODE. (5) click APPLY. (6) click CLOSE. (7) do the EXACT SAME for the FLASH PLAYER file you just downloaded. (8) now right click the FLASH PLAYER INSTALLER and click RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR. (9) goto the firefox shortcut and right click and select OPEN FILE LOCATION. (10) right click that file and look for the RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR, IF it is there then click it and run direfox, if not select OPEN FILE LOCATION AGAIN. (11) then right click it and RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR.
NOW GO TO YOUR FAVORITE FLASH SITE, eg http://www.pogo.com or whatever, and you'll see that you can have your favorite browser AND flash, without having to run INTERNET EXPLODER.

THAT WORKED FOR ME, please post back and tell people with the same problem.

Appreciate your advice. Have a new computer, with Mozilla. Totally confused. Can't install Adobe and when I reach your suggestion number (four) my selection is limited to Windows 95/98/2000 and Windows NT (Service pack 5). I have XP, service pack 3, what should I do? Thanks for any help you may give me.

Go to the flash folder where npswf32.dll is located and move All the files there in to a new subfolder. Then try reinstalling the update. after it installs you can move the original files back, EXCEPT for any file that wants to overwrite one that you just created (i.e. npswf32.dll). Now adobe flash player should work.

I opened youtube and when I am trying to open a video it shows 'get latest flash player'. I clicked on it and from adobe webpage I downloaded the file 'install_flash_player'. It should install flash player 10. But when I tried to run it after some progress is opened a dialogue box written
" Error opening file for writing

C;\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\flash\NPSWF32.dll

Click Abort to stop installation
Retry to try again later, or
Ignore to skip this file."

What should I do now.

I had the same problem. It frustrated me for quite a while until I figured out that if you uninstall your current flash player and then download adobe flash player specifically for vista and firefox using internet explorer (close firefox) it works fine.

I have tried several times to download adobe so that I can read sites sent to me. Everytime I try to install it, I get a message back that says it "can't" download on my computer. I have checked to be sure is working correctly on my PC. Do you have any hints for me? Or, maybe you could suggest some other sites. I specifically have not been able to run and view the weekly b ulletin from our Church office. I always get a box that aasks me if I want to save it to my save file, not run it so that I can read and view it> Thanks for any assistance you can be.

The newer versions of windows Vista may be 64 bit and flash player is not supported at or below Adobe flash player 9, player 10 is supported. Most newer computers that have both INTERNET EXPLORER 64 bit, AND INTERNET EXPLORER 32 bit installed. Go to the start menu on the task bar open all programs and you will see Internet Explorer, and if its installed Internet Explorer (64) bit icons. Select Internet Explorer if you view youtube or the like and it will A. download B. play your videos.

I have the same problem. I noticed it after I bought and ran the Reg Cure Registry cleaner. I download the Flash 10 as directed. It claims to be successfully installed. When i try to play a Flash video it say I need a Plug -In. I click on the link and am then taken to Netscape News, which has nothing in the way of Plug-In's. I've tried other things suggested on the boards and would usually get an Error message after installing the Plug-In fix from other links. This has been an isue for almost a year now. Still can get Flash Player to work on Mozilla

If you have a PC and are using Firefox, Installing Adobe Flash Player goes as follows.
1. Go into tools and click Add-ons
2. Disable Adobe Acrobat
3. Go to the Adobe.com and download Adobe Flash Player
4. Close Firefox completely
5. Install Adobe Flash Player normally
6. Go into Firefox and repeat steps 1 and 2 this time Enable Adobe Acrobat.
Adobe Flash Player should now work.

If you have a previous version of Adobe Flash player installed on your system, you must first unisntall the previous. To this you can go to the Adobe Website and download the unistall program.

Go here to download: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html?promoid=DTEGO

Save the unistall progam to your desktop and close all programs.
*Be sure to close all messenger programs as well as the browser before running the uninstall program.

Once you have uninstalled the flash player, you can then install the Adobe Flash player.
Go here to download the latest version of Adobe flash player: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

Good Luck!

This worked for me (Vista + Firefox user) after getting the NPSWF32.dll error:

1) Close all browsers
2) Go to your c:\windows\system32\macromed\flash folder
3) rename "NPSWF32.dll" to "NPSWF32.old"
4) Install and test

Uh Oh! i just discovered that now my HP Solutions Center is now not working. Each time I start up my PC the Solution center tries to load and asks for the installation CD. I run that but the CD only allows the program to go through 3 of 4 steps. then freezes.

Go to http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/ and choose the other versions VISTA/XP option, Firefox will be listed as well, and download that version of Adobe Flash Player...you'll have to do it from Explorer though, with Firefox closed.
