Hello,
I wish to know how I can switch from my Microsoft Word 2002 french version to an English version: I need to buy a style guide software that will only work on an English version of Word that is not word 2007. Thanks.

Hi. I will suggest you to change the whole pack to Word 2007. You can go to http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/suites/FX102113661033.aspx to buy the English Language pack but you can also try this. Got to your start button and select the programs menu. Select Microsoft office and then Microsoft office tools. Go to the language settings menu to select the display language tab (this is where you can alter the language used).

Thank you. Unfortunatly switching from French to English for Word 2003 does not work with your method. I can't buy the English version of word 2007 because the software I wish to use with it will not work with word 2007 thus defeating my purposes.

So, go to Programs, point to Microsoft Office Tools, and then click Microsoft Office 2003 Language Settings. There, change the default language, add your language dictionary. Try that first, but if it doesn't switch, remove that particular dictionary (in my case, I removed Swedish) and then add it again if you want it later.

That's how I did it with Word 2003 changing from Swedish dictionary to English dictionary. Hope that helps.

Sorry... Overshot that one... It seems that if you simply do a spellcheck, it will detect which language it uses. Don't know why or how that's controlled.

Yet again, I figured out a different way that isn't the best, but it works. Select all the text you want to check, then go to Tools>Language>Set Language>Mark Selected Text as... and double click the language you want. It works, but doesn't seem to work well. Supposedly, Word is supposed to automatically detect the dictionary, but with Swedish being similar enough to English, it doesn't always work.
