Hello,

I recently purchased a 40 gb pendrive (Kingston) . I tried to format it, but during formatting its file system changed into RAW from NTFS and not formatted at all. It is not opening at all, showing the "disk is not formatted". When I am triyng to format it in NTFS it is showing pendrive cannot be formatted. I have also tried HP USB disk storage format tool 2.06 but it still not working in any format NTFS, FAT or FAT32.

Please helpme to overcome this problem.

Configuration: Windows XP
Internet Explorer 8.0

Hello,

just try to get a software called parted magic. its linux based and you should easily format the pen drive there.

alternatively what you can do is to try to get a pc loaded with linux on and then format it there

Go to control panel
go to administrative tools
go to computer management

Start With FAT, then FAT32. You might be able to get NTFS then, but I won't guarantee it because this time that didn't work with me.

I gues the best way to solve your prob. with ur pen drive is to make a new partition.. here's how, its just like ur intallatin ur windows xp.. boot from ur winxp cd then run let the set-up run until u go to the process which telling on which drive u want to setup ur windows then try to select ur pen drive (be sure to plug-in ur pen drive before u boot on cd) after u select ur pen drive then select the option that telling u to partition ur pen drive the after the partition reboot.. the load windows from there format ur drive and that's it.. sorry if i cant make in more detailed coz the last iv done that is a few years ago.. i assure u if u get wat i instructed it will work a 100%.. i discover it accidentally.. i dont knw if there a software to make it easy but for me its the best.. hope it'll work..
